About the Oboe is a delightful one hour, one woman concert-lecture featuring repertoire for solo oboe spanning Baroque to Right Now music. Brenda will talk about the process of transitioning from total beginner to master of this gorgeous and much loved instrument. She'll demonstrate other members of the oboe family including oboe d'amore, english horn, shehnai and chirimia. Along the way you'll hold a piece of the tree from which oboes and clarinets are made. Repertoire can include "Summertime" by George Gershwin and "Tango" by Astor Piazzola with additional music by Telemann, Bach, Arlen, Rossini, Dvorak, Tschaikovsky and Schuman-Post.
